FACE OF THE MONTH
The next time you think of beautiful things,
don't forget to count yourself in.
March/April Face Of The Month
Yes, I am one face of many with Parkinson's disease. My story begins in the mid to late '90s, when I first lost the functional ability of my right hand; it gradually continued on its path and crippled my arm, froze my shoulder, and eventually followed the journey down causing me to drag my right leg. Approximately 10 years later, one April day in 2007, my sister-in-law guided my wheelchair into Dr. Lisa Shulman's office, an internationally known PD & Movement Disorder Specialist at the University of Maryland, where I was immediately diagnosed and began treatment for PD. During the past 24+ years, I am thankful to have had the privilege of meeting many wonderful, caring individuals throughout my journey with PD. I have learned life can still be joyous and fulfilling if you approach it with love and purpose. I am the face of Parkinson's disease but also, I AM a wife of a wonderful supportive husband, mother of one beautiful daughter & grandmother of one very bright, handsome 4-year-old grandson, a member of a close-knit loving family, and proud to be part of the wonderful PD family!
Face Of The Month
Each month I will feature new faces and share their stories. If you would like to be considered, and/or even being a part of current or future projects, just send me a black and white photo of you face, a brief bio to firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will get back to you.
